Editor’s Note:
In May 2025, we published verification information on social media regarding the video “Chinese airdrops of aid in Gaza.” We have now reorganized and integrated the original content into this long-form report.
Claim:
Videos circulating on social media platforms (X, TikTok, Instagram, Threads, YouTube) since May 17, 2025 are said to show Chinese aircraft airdropping aid in Gaza.
Fact-Check
Video 1:
- On May 18, a video featuring Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian circulated on TikTok and X. The Chinese audio is authentic, taken from a regular press conference on April 8, 2025, during which he stated: “We Chinese are not troublemakers, but we will not flinch when trouble comes our way. Intimidation, threat and blackmail are not the right way to engage with China. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate and lawful rights and interests. If the U.S. decides not to care about the interests of the U.S. itself, China and the rest of the world, and is determined to fight a tariff and trade war, China’s response will continue to the end.” Spanish subtitles falsely claim the footage which follows shows Chinese aircraft flying over Israeli-controlled Palestinian airspace, confronting the U.S. and Israel.

- The second half of the video appears to show Gaza residents receiving airdropped aid, but the location cannot be confirmed due to extensive destruction and rapidly changing landmarks in Gaza.

Video 2:
- A reverse image search reveals that the first frame of the video matches footage taken on October 18, 2024 of humanitarian aid airdropped to Al-Mawasi, Gaza, following an Israeli strike on Khan Younis.

- The second frame matches a video from March 26, 2024 published on Turkish website Yeni Şafak, showing airdrops in northern Gaza, with no mention of the aiding country and most supplies landing in the sea.

Video 3:
- The viral video, traced via its watermark to TikTok user “nametho_1711,” is titled “Chinese Air Force Flying Over Pyramids.” A reverse image search verifies it depicts the China-Egypt “Eagles of Civilization-2025” joint training exercise, which took place from April 17 to May 4 this year, not airdrops in Gaza.

- Chinese aid to Gaza: China has provided batches of humanitarian aid to Gaza through land border crossings, via Egypt and Jordan, including food, medical supplies and disaster relief materials since the start of the Palestine-Israel conflict. There are no reliable reports indicating that China has provided aid to Gaza via airdrops.

Verdict: False. The videos misrepresent unrelated footage as evidence of Chinese airdrops of aid in Gaza. No credible evidence supports claims of Chinese airdrops, and the circulated content includes misleading subtitles and repurposed imagery from unrelated events.
