A video that has been widely circulated online since March 11 appears to show the demolition of a mosque. Some posts claim the event took place in China, while others suggest it occurred in India.
However, a reverse image search confirms that the video actually depicts the demolition of a building at Hibisc Fantasy, a theme park in Java, Indonesia.
According to multiple Indonesian news outlets, local authorities ordered the closure and demolition of the park, which took place on March 6 and 7.
The park was shut down due to construction violations – exceeding the permitted number of structures – and environmental concerns, as it was believed to have contributed to a flash flood in the area that same week.
Verdict:
This video does not show a mosque being demolished in China or India. It shows the demolition of a building at a theme park in Indonesia.
